Frequently asked questions

Clear answers before we hold the key.

Understanding the scope, responsibilities, and communication plan is part of good stewardship.

What owners ask

SafeKeep, explained.

What is home stewardship?

Home stewardship combines scheduled visual home-watch visits with local coordination, documentation, seasonal planning, and arrival or departure support. SafeKeep becomes one accountable point of contact while you are away.

Is a SafeKeep visit a home inspection?

No. We perform limited visual observations using a property-specific routine. We do not provide licensed home inspections, engineering evaluations, security patrols, or guarantees that every condition will be discovered. When an issue needs technical expertise, we help coordinate the appropriate qualified professional.

Who is SafeKeep designed for?

Our service is designed primarily for owners of non-rental second homes and estates in Western North Carolina who spend meaningful time away and want consistent local oversight.

How often will you visit my home?

The four care tiers begin with twice-monthly service and range to customized weekly or twice-weekly schedules. The right frequency depends on the property, its systems, location, season, insurance requirements, and your preferences.

What happens if you observe a problem?

We document the condition, notify you according to the agreed response protocol, and take only the actions you have authorized. When appropriate, we can help contact an approved vendor or emergency service.

How will I receive visit reports?

Each scheduled visit includes a concise digital report with timestamped photographs, observations, and any items requiring attention or follow-up.

Can you meet vendors and oversee repairs?

Yes. With your approval, SafeKeep can provide access, coordinate appointments, capture progress photographs, and confirm visible completion. Technical conclusions and warranties remain the responsibility of the hired professional.

Are vendor costs included in my plan?

No. Third-party labor, materials, and specialty services are billed separately by the vendor or handled according to your service agreement. SafeKeep coordination time is defined in your proposal.

Do you manage vacation rentals or tenants?

No. SafeKeep is focused on private, non-rental second homes and estates. We are not a short-term rental or tenant property-management company.

How do you establish pricing?

After a private consultation and on-site assessment, we recommend one of four levels of care and provide a custom proposal. Home size, route, systems, grounds, visit frequency, and coordination needs all affect scope.

How are keys and access codes handled?

Access procedures are documented during onboarding. Keys, codes, permissions, and vendor entry are managed with controlled records and owner-directed protocols.

Do you provide emergency response?

SafeKeep coordinates and communicates during urgent situations within the limits of the service agreement and when conditions permit safe access. We are not an emergency service, monitoring company, or first responder.

Where do you serve?

Our focused area includes Asheville, Arden, Mills River, Hendersonville, Flat Rock, Weaverville, Black Mountain, and Maggie Valley. Scheduling in each location is considered case by case so we can coordinate visits efficiently with our other service commitments.

How do we begin?

Start with a confidential consultation. We will discuss your home and priorities, schedule an on-site assessment, and prepare a recommended stewardship plan and custom proposal.
